![]() ![]() Ive spent about 5 days trying to find the solution in various forums and various tech support sites, but with no luck. I've installed Split/Second but haven't played it yet.ĭeus Ex is next, I want to get that running with the newest and best rendering engine.Hi, Im posting this here in the hope that someone will be able to help me. ![]() which was subsequently fixed with a patch. I guess the RTM disc came with a date/time bug, and wouldn't work after a certain date. Gears of War is also working beautifully, but only after the newest patch was installed. After about 20 minutes of tinkering, it's great. It also would not run at all until the latest patch was installed. Then I had to work another mod on the game to make the game itself support 64-bit OS (as opposed to making StarForce support it). I had to install a no-CD crack on it, just to make it work on a 64-bit OS. Even though newer versions of StarForce support it, installing them over the existing one doesn't help. The disc protection, StarForce, at the time did not support 64-bit OSes. It required the most modification to work, but it works beautifully (maxed out graphics - and natively supports widescreen resolutions too!). Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is now working. Does anybody have hands-on experience with it? I did some REALLY quick research online that said VMWare can accelerate 3D graphics via DirectX, and that might do the trick with an install of Need for Speed High Stakes. I have located my copy of Split/Second, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, and my CD-keys for Halo, Halo2, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and NFS Most Wanted Black Edition. Natively, it says it won't accept a 64-bit version of Windows - and in a 32-bit Windows XP install running in a VM (Windows XP Mode, to be precise), it won't run either cuz it can't take control of the full screen. that, then Hot Pursuit 2.Ĭhex Quest works perfectly in Dosbox. Maybe not due to it being the best, but it's the one I grew up on. I'm determined to get it working eventually, though, as that's my absolute favorite racing game from the 95/98 era. ![]() The patches I tried previously do not work anymore, apparently. I've had it work in Win7 before, just not on this particular laptop. Need for Speed High Stakes cannot work with what I've tried so far. I'll be updating the list momentarily to reflect. If anybody has a preference for me to try a certain title first, post it here! Otherwise I will be basically going at random through whatever titles I feel like playing at the moment, and posting the results here. Have not yet played Deus Ex: Invisible War, but will very shortly. Need for Speed Underground 2 also installed and plays with no problem, but the HUD and menus become invisible when AA is applied with the in-game options. The first two work fine - as they are new enough to work with zero issues in Windows 7. So far the only games I have installed on this list are Resident Evil 5, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (2010), Need for Speed Underground 2, and Deus Ex: Invisible War. After that, no issues.īurnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box - No issues. Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions Colonies Editionįallout 3 - Must install all the newest updates for DirectX9.0c, which for some reason aren't included in Windows 7. Gears of War - Must install latest patch from Microsoft to update security certificate. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Must install no-CD crack.īattlefield 1942: The Complete Collection Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - StarForce disc protection incompatible with anything newer than XP. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow - Can only create profile if run as administrator. Need for Speed: Underground 2 - Turning AA on in-game makes HUD and menus disappear Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed - no issues Need for Speed: High Stakes - Incompatible. Here is my list of 74 PC games, by the oldest copyright date on the disc.Ĭhex Quest - Incompatible natively, works in DOSBox (with no issues). Older games run on whichever you specify - but not in crossfire (there is a way to assign it to the "battery saver" or "high performance" card.) The laptop has a second 6600M graphics card, and they run in crossfire for DirectX10 and DirectX11 games. The laptop has an AMD A6-3400M CPU which is a quadcore 1.4GHz, with its own Radeon 6500M graphics card on-die. ![]() My goal is to get almost all of them to run on my laptop computer, which is an Asus K53TA-BBR6 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Some of my games are missing (like the very old text-based RPG "Gateway" which came on several floppy diskettes) but all the ones I know of that I've ever owned on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM are here. I just collected all my PC games into one place in my house, and realized I have a very wide selection as far as genre AND age. ![]()
